Visiting Scholars

Highlights/

Minerva’s Visiting Scholars year is intended for students who have been accepted into a leading college or university but face challenges attending in residence for the 2020-21 academic year. In order to begin their studies, Visiting Scholars will be able to remotely complete Minerva’s four Foundation Year courses.

The Foundation Year courses were intentionally designed to challenge Minerva Schools at KGI students. This opportunity should be considered by those scholars who are prepared for the rigor of Minerva’s curriculum.

Minerva Schools are part of KGI, which is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).

Designed for remote, online access for the first-year curriculum

Affordable tuition and fees totaling $15,950 for all four courses

Course credits may be transferred to other higher education institutions for both semester- and year-long options*

Program Details

The Visiting Scholars year was created to ensure students are not forced to curtail their learning. The Minerva academic model is distinctly capable of supporting these students with its completely redesigned class experience, based on best practices from the science of learning. Not only are Minerva courses extremely rigorous, but the Forum™ virtual learning environment offers highly engaging, live, video-based instruction, without the need for physical classrooms. Fully Active Learning enabled by Forum is now the gold standard for synchronous, discussion-based seminars taught by outstanding and experienced professors in every class session.

Students accepted to a leading university with comparable academic rigor to Minerva for Fall 2020 matriculation will automatically qualify for the Visiting Scholar year by providing basic identifiable information and proof of admission. Additional information and a list of pre-approved schools can be found in our FAQ. Students from universities that are not pre-approved will be admitted on a case-by-case basis depending on the rigor of their curriculum and English language proficiency.

Visiting Scholars year enrollment is available for both the fall semester and the full 2020-21 academic year. Students who enroll for just the fall semester are eligible to extend their studies, if needed.

For additional questions not covered in our FAQ, please email visitingscholars@minerva.kgi.edu.

Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis through August 1, 2020 or until we have reached full capacity, whichever comes first.
